Aside from clothes, shoes, and accessories, hair is a big piece of the puzzle when making a personal statement and standing out in a crowd. If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then (to me) my hair is the most important part of my look. Next to remembering my car keys when I step out of my house in the morning, knowing my hair is looking cute is a priority. Although, once in a while, there are those “I'm running late and I had no time to do anything to myself” situations, in which case I refer to the handy dandy “bad hair day hat.” Every girl needs one of these. But, I must admit, I've never been one to take major risks when it comes to switching up my look. I have never done some edgy or trendy cut, and I've certainly never been brave enough to add color to my hair. But for the past couple of months, I have been entertaining the idea of doing something different with my hair—like going completely platinum blonde or maybe a fiery red! OK...maybe that's a bit extreme for my first time. I figured maybe I would just start off by adding some subtle highlights to bring out my color and add texture. So finally after weeks of mental anguish...the yes, no, maybe game...I decided to just go for it. And I did. I just kept it simple—stuck to the plan of just doing subtle highlights. And I love it!
I can't wait to go back in a couple of months and see what else I can experiment with. I guess someone neglected to inform me that coloring your hair is like opening up a bag of Cheetos...you can't have just one. Well, you can't just color your hair once, you kinda just want more.
But when you don't really want to switch up your look with a trendy cut or color, there are always new fun styles you can try out.
One simple look that's made a comeback is the natural wave. This is a 1940s-inspired look. All you do is add some product to keep the frizz down and you just let your hair do its own thing, therefore creating that natural waive look.
The loose side braid is another classic look that is not only manageable, classy, and trendy but it has made its way onto almost every runway for spring collections.
A hair style can represent individuality and it shows off your personality...not just the way you style it but also the cut and the color. The best part of being a girl is having so much to work with when it comes to experimenting. Have fun playing up your new look, whether it's clothes, accessories, shoes...or even a new hairdo. I sure did!
