Saucy Lit’l Smokies

A super-easy blast from the not-so-distant past is a heaping plate of Lit’l Smokies in a heady sauce. You can use your favorite barbecue sauce but this amended variation will have them licking their fingers!

Ingredients

  • 1 bottle basic barbecue sauce
  • 1⁄4 cup honey
  • 1 tsp. chipotle pepper
  • 2 cloves freshly minced garlic
  • 1 package Lit’l Smokies

Methods/steps

  1. Combine the first three ingredients in a small sauce pan and heat until just bubbling.
  2. In a large sauté pan over medium-high heat, add about 1 tablespoon olive oil. Add minced garlic and Lit’l Smokies.
  3. Toss vigorously so that the Smokies don’t stick to the pan.
  4. Once the sausages have been warmed through, pour the barbecue sauce over the top and toss to coat.
  5. Now some people will serve these in a warming container of some sort or a small slow cooker. I suggest placing a heavy ceramic serving dish in the oven for a few minutes to warm. When you’re about to serve, line the ceramic dish with some baguette slices and layer with the Smokies. Pour any remaining BBQ sauce in a ramekin for dipping.
