For your swank soirée, this variation makes a sinful fondue. If you have fondue forks, great! If not plain ol’ toothpicks will do.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag (8 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 pint heavy whipping cream
  • 1 tsp. vanilla

Methods/steps

  1. Place the heavy cream in a small sauté pan and place over medium to medium-high heat. While the cream warms up put the chocolate chips in a glass mixing bowl large enough to hold the chips and cream with room to spare. Watch the heavy cream carefully ‘cuz once it starts to bubble, it will want to boil over very quickly.
  2. Once you have achieved a healthy rolling bubble, pour the heavy cream over the chocolate chips and place the sauté pan right over the bowl.
  3. Wait 2 to 3 minutes for the chips to soften and melt. Remove the pan and carefully begin to whisk the cream and chocolate chips together, adding the vanilla as you go.
  4. Eventually the cream and chips will combine and voilà! You have now made chocolate ganache.
  5. Pour this into a heavy ceramic dish or fondue pot. Serve with fresh fruit, chunks of angel food cake, or marshmallows.
